Meet Activate Learning Curriculum Experts at These Upcoming Science Education Conferences!

Meet Activate Learning curriculum experts

Moving Forward, Together

We’ve gone from “back to school” to “back to live events” and we couldn’t be more excited to reconnect with science teachers at live conferences this Fall!

Throughout the pandemic, our STEM educational resources and professional learning programs helped school districts across the country bring virtual lessons to life for students everywhere and continued to make learning interactive and engaging for all students during an extremely difficult time.

By using high-quality, NGSS-aligned instructional materials such as PRIME Science (K-5), EarthComm high school curriculum (developed by the American Geosciences Institute), and the OpenSciEd middle-school curriculum, coupled with innovative digital tools like our Interactive Digital Platform (IDP), science teachers were able to do what seemed like the impossible – facilitate quality, long-distance learning during a global pandemic.

We were endlessly inspired by feedback from teachers who shared with us their experiences that improved learning outcomes for students over the past two and a half years with the help of our powerful curriculum tools. We also witnessed, first-hand, the determination and excitement of teachers who embraced new challenges, strategies and techniques at our professional learning workshops, so that they could continue to meet the needs of students wherever they are post-pandemic.

Utah Science Teachers Association 2022 Annual Conference: Science in the Multiverse (UtSTA)

October 7th  |  Provo, Utah  |  @UtSciTA

A great opportunity for professional development, lesson plan ideas, networking, and inspiration. In addition to the keynote (TBA), there will be 13 different themed strands throughout the day and 4 different breakout sessions for each to help you with your teaching curriculum with ideas, demos, lessons, and more!

Activate Learning Sessions:

Using Modeling to Strengthen Literacy Strategies in the Elementary Classroom. Participants will engage in a lesson that demonstrates how modeling scaffolds the student discussion to support literacy strategies in the context of science. This includes the incorporation of academic language in written responses and oral discourse in conjunction with investigations using an interactive word wall. Reading and differentiation strategies highlighted.

The OpenSciEd Instructional Model: Routines for Advancing Students Through a Storyline. Using a storyline approach, a logical sequence of lessons that are motivated by students’ questions that arise from their interactions with phenomena, we’ll navigate through the OpenSciEd model using five routines – activities that play specific roles in advancing the storyline with structures to help students achieve the objectives of those activities.
