Activate Learning Digital Platform Earns the ISTE Seal

Activate Learning is pleased to announce that the Activate Learning Digital Platform has been awarded the ISTE Seal by the International Society for Technology in Education.
This recognition follows a rigorous, independent evaluation conducted by a distinguished panel of experts in education, instruction, and technology, and confirms that the platform meets the highest standards in learning sciences, user experience, accessibility, and content quality.

About the ISTE Seal
The ISTE Seal is awarded only after an extensive review process in which trained evaluators assess a product against the ISTE Standards for Students and five dimensions of quality: user interface and agency, learning design, digital pedagogy, inclusivity, and assessment and data. Products must meet expectations across all dimensions to receive the ISTE Seal.
For educators and district leaders evaluating educational technology, the ISTE Seal provides independent, expert-validated assurance that a product promotes critical technology skills, supports research-backed instructional practices, and is designed to advance student learning in meaningful ways.
Review Findings
The Official Findings Report confirmed that the Activate Learning Digital Platform supports all six ISTE Standards for Students, from Empowered Learner to Global Collaborator. Several findings across the five review dimensions are particularly noteworthy.
In the area of learning design, reviewers found that teachers can assign and sequence lessons based on instructional needs and that structured reflection prompts “connect new learning to prior knowledge, with regular opportunities for students to revisit and revise their conclusions.” This approach reflects established principles from the learning sciences and supports the iterative sensemaking at the core of the OpenSciEd curriculum.
On digital pedagogy, the report noted that students “develop explanations and solutions based on phenomena through sensemaking and problem-solving tasks” and engage in “structured problem definition activities that include data collection, testing, and iterative refinement.” Built-in tools guide students through the full arc of scientific inquiry, from brainstorming and data collection through analysis, testing, and solution iteration.
Regarding inclusivity, reviewers found that the platform’s content “reflects a range of people, cultures, and lived experiences,” with representation that is integrated authentically throughout. Accessibility features include text-to-speech with read-along highlighting, display adjustments, and translation in 140+ languages.
Reviewers recognized the Activate Learning Digital Platform’s robust assessment tools, citing “a variety of assessment types and submission formats” that “provide students with multiple ways to demonstrate their understanding.”
