A Reason to Soldier On

While every year at back-to-school time is fraught with excitement for some and trepidation for others, this 2020 back-to-school season, as we all know, was exceptionally different. Would school be in-person, virtual, hybrid? Would it start out one way and morph as the year went on? So many questions, so many changing plans, so many decisions to make. Administrators, teachers, parents and students would all be impacted and whatever decision was made would never please everyone.

As a sales rep for the company, back to school is always a very busy time for us, as would be expected. This year was no exception. The Curriculum and Instruction team was finishing the last lesson adaptations for remote learning for Activate Learning Everywhere. Operations and fulfillment were met with supply chain demands that had never before existed. The support staff was met with an unprecedented number of schools and districts switching to our Interactive Digital Edition-often at the
last minute and in some cases, after school had already started school in-person and then switched to remote. And everyone wanted everything now, which makes for a very stressful time for all.

September 18 was one of those stressful days for me and it was getting the better of me. I wanted to close my computer, go back to bed and take the day off, but then I see the post below on social media and was provided with my reason to soldier on. If the kids love science, I am happy. That’s who I do this for. Especially the girls. Especially this year.

My daughter loves school. Her favorite class is science from Activate Learning! She thanks her Aunt Cynthia Ryan Weller everyday.

“The lessons are easy to follow and learn from. The labs are fun and I don’t get bored.
E-learning is a little harder but I’m getting used to it. I’m glad I can see my friends in Zoom this year.”
